Professional Statement

My expertise is evidence-based primary care for economically-disadvantaged elders. My passion is serving elders in underserved communities. In my past work on the Ben Taub House Calls team, I provided home-based primary care, transition of care visits, and home safety evaluations. The patients who I saw doing house calls reside in historically impoverished and underserved areas. I managed my patients’ chronic and acute medical problems at home, preventing hospitalizations.

Recently, I transitioned to the Valbona Geriatric Clinic, managing the primary care of more mobile elders, and St. Dominic's Village, managing care of nursing home and assisted living residents.

I have precepted nurse practitioner students, residents, and geriatric fellows and provide weekly interprofessional training experience for medical students and pharmacy students. My hope is that my learners' experiences with me illuminate a holistic approach to geriatric medical care but demonstrate how social determinates of health impact elders.
